Today is the first anniversary of Doug’s death on the 7th of December 2020.
Doug touched the lives of so many in the UK, Nepal and beyond and there will be great sadness today as we remember Doug and reflect on what we have lost. However there will also be feelings of gratitude and thanksgiving for the impact that Doug had in the world.
Doug’s great humanitarian work continues in Nepal and he would have been very proud of CAN’s frontline nurses, teachers and livelihoods workers in North Gorkha who have all shown great resilience in the face of the pandemic, flooding and landslides in the last year.
Covid delayed Doug’s planned Memorial events in London and Oxford in November but we hope that you will be able to join us in March 2022 (Covid permitting) to pay tribute to Doug and celebrate his incredible life.
Doug was a legendary mountaineer, humanitarian and human being. This mountain of a man will continue to inspire.
