Doug Scott: Never Had a Proper Job: A celebration of Doug's life

To honour the life of our great friend, who inspired so many people across the world, we are inviting you to a very special evening at The Royal Geographical Society, London, on Thursday November 25th, 2021.

Please join us as we welcome Doug’s closest friends and some of the most prestigious mountaineering legends, all of whom will be sharing some of their finest memories.

The participants on stage for this momentous occasion will be the legendary mountaineers, Stephen Venables and Leo Houlding, sat alongside Doug’s great friends and fellow-team members from the 1975 Everest expedition, Sir Chris Bonington and Paul ‘Tut’ Braithwaite. Completing our star-studded line-up is life-long friend and Trustee for Doug’s charity, Dr. Rob Lorge.

There will also be filmed messages from Reinhold Messner, undoubtedly the most famous mountaineer in the world, and other world class luminaries.

This wonderful evening of conversation and celebration will be led by Julie Summers, in her own inimitable way.

Join us for an evening among friends, as we celebrate Doug’s achievements both on and off the mountains; from his pioneering style of climbing, his tenacity and strength in the face of adversity, his legendary adventures on Mt. Everest and The Ogre, and his enduring passion for giving back to the mountain communities of Nepal, through his charity, Community Action Nepal.

You can expect a heady mix of laughter and tears as we journey through the defining moments of Doug’s life, as told through the eyes of those who knew him best. Throughout the evening, we will be bringing you messages from around the world, from people whose lives were touched by Doug in some way or another; be it that Doug inspired them to climb mountains or tackle seemingly impossible endeavours, or that their lives were changed forever by the support given through his charity work.

This event will shine a light on Doug’s incredible life in a way that you will have never seen before. With exclusive photos and videos from Doug’s expeditions, and anecdotes from those who have known and loved Doug for many years, this intimate event will celebrate his life in the historic Royal Geographical Society in London.

In true Doug Scott style, we will be concluding the evening with an auction of some very special items. Our auctioneer for the evening will be British mountaineer Rebecca Stephens MBE.

We will also be screening this event live online to allow all of Doug’s friends and followers around the world the opportunity to be involved.

Tickets to the RGS event are priced at £20. Online tickets will be available in return for a donation.

All proceeds from the ticket sales, online donations and the auction will go to Community Action Nepal. www.canepal.org.uk

N.B: General Admission tickets will be emailed to you immediately after purchase. When purchasing Online Screening tickets, you will be emailed a link to watch the event in November - we will contact you directly closer to the time.

Many thanks! We look forward to seeing you there!
