Health
Seminar 2006

Over the week
of the 23rd – 27th September Community Action Nepal held an Annual
Health Seminar in Kathmandu. This is an opportunity for all the CAN
community health staff to meet together to discuss various health
issues as well as to receive specialised training from professional
colleagues working within in the Nepalese Health Service.
This year 16
CAN community health staff enjoyed various presentations and in turn
gave reports on the work they are undertaking at CAN Health Posts
and within the communities. The speakers included Dr Hira Pradhan on
‘Recognising the signs and symptoms of Leprosy’, Dr Premila Pradhan
on ‘Natal Care’, Dr Manohar Shrestha on ‘Community Health Issues’
and Dr Mohmohan Shrestha on ‘Eye Health’.

Other CAN
staff gave presentations on the history, role and work of CAN in the
remote hill districts, the organisation, the structure and finance
of CAN.
The Seminar
concluded with presentations to the doctors for their contributions
to the event. This was followed by a presentation to Kalpana Khadha
Bhatta from the Kutumsang Health Post who sadly leaves CAN’s service
to devote more time to her family. On a more joyous note CAN
welcomed Shanta Pathak who has taken over Kalpana’s role at
Kutumsang.

but a fond and sad farewell to Kalpana Bhattna. |
