The Nepalese Day of the Dog 'Kukur Tihar'

with a sponsored Dog Walk

Sunday 16 September 2011 at Hutton in the Forest, Penrith

For one day a year in Nepal all dogs, including strays, are paid respect. They are decorated with a tika spot and a garland of flowers and prayed to so they will guard against the ‘underworld’. Join us on a special dog walk at Hutton in the Forest, with our special guests (to be annonced) where our dogs will follow these ancient Nepali traditions.

Suggested donation of £10 per dog. Each dog may bring two people. (Extra dogs or people welcome- suggested donation £5 each.)

We will make a special website for each dog’s own fundraising. Children will also enjoy Dog Day and may attend for free. We hope they will have fun backing their own dog by asking godparents, neighbours, friends and family to support them.

WHEN: Sunday 16 September

WHERE: Hutton in the Forest, Penrith

WHAT TIME: 11 am to have your dog garlanded for 11.30am departure

COST: suggested donation £10 for one dog bringing two people (£5 per extra dog or person)

To join all you have to do is send your dog’s name by email to info@canepal.com OR by post to CAN, Stewart Hill Cottage, nr. Hesket Newmarket, Wigton, Cumbria CA7 8HX (with your email address if you have one)

We will set up a special fund-raising page for your dog on Just Giving and email you the page link. Just Giving automatically collect Gift Aid for taxpayers, increasing your donation further.

Please click on the link and donate £10 to your dog’s page to register and begin fundraising. We hope you have fun sending the link to friends and family. If you have a photo of your dog please send CAN that also to add to your web page- it will help the fundraising.

Donations can also be made by cheque, payable to Community Action Nepal (marked Dog Day on the back) and sent to CAN, Stewart Hill Cottage, Nr Hesket Newmarket, Wigton CA7 8HX.

Can I join in if I don’t have a dog? Yes! Suggested donation £5 per person

Can my dog have more than two supporters? Yes! Suggested donation £5 per additional person

Can my dog’s web page have a photo? Yes! Just send a digital photo to us. If you are dogless – send a picture of yourself.
