Individual / Group supporters

Many thanks to all the generous individuals and groups who are continue to raise money for CAN’s Appeal.

The response to CAN’s Appeal since April 25th 2015 has been overwhelming – thank you. So much so that it is very difficult to keep up to date with thanking donors and we sincerely apologise if that has happened to you although we are now trying to ensure a mention appears on the website with a link through to JustGiving.

To date, 31st March 2016  over one million pounds has been raised for the appeal – of which over a third has come from fund raising activities organised via JustGiving.

A list of individuals who have helped raise funds in 2015 is below with the more recent 2016 list above:

2016 list of CAN supporters who have helped, or who are still helping, raise funds – listed in alphabetical order and with our sincere thanks to them all:

CARA BUCHAN will be taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival on Sunday 29th May and will be wearing one of CAN’s specially designed Technical T-shirts. Please click here to read all about Cara’s challenge – if you are in Edinburgh that day please cheer Cara and help her achieve her goal.

SUMAN CHOWDHURY is about to set off/has set off [5 April 2016] on a trek through the Himalaya to Mera Peak. Suman has set himself a target of £2,000.00 and has asked for any donation to be ring-fenced for Kashigaon village in Gorkha district. Although this is an area in which CAN is not usually involved this arrangement has come about through Doug’s friendship with Dr Mike Searle, a distinguished geologist who has worked in the region  Please click the link to read more about Suman’s challenge

ANDREW ELLIMAN who has set himself a series of challenges in 2016 from taking part in various marathon’s to climbing North Africa’s highest mountain [Mount Toubkal]. Andrew was part of a team who were on Everest when the earthquake struck last year – they had set themselves the challenge of hosting the world’s highest dinner party – and, although no one was hurt that part of the challenge remains unfulfilled, so Andrew continues to support CAN beginning with running in the Paris marathon on Sunday 3rd April. To read more about his intentions on his Just Giving page Click here to read more about Andrew’s challenges.

DANIELLE ELLIMAN found herself suspended in horror on 25 April 2015 as she waited for news about her father Andrew [see above]. He was with a party of climbers on Everest at the time of the earthquake – extraordinarily on a fund raising expedition for CAN by way of hosting the highest dinner party in the world. After an agonising wait she learnt that everyone was safe and Andrew and his group were repatriated a week or so later. Now, one year on, Danielle wants to raise funds to support CAN’s on-going earthquake appeal and has set herself the challenge of running a Spartan Marathon Click here to read more about her intentions on her JustGiving page

GILL FORD was joined by friends from Cornwall who climbed Poon Hill and sent through the images below to share their achievement. It should be noted that the Patron Saint of Cornwall, St. Piran was not forgotten and the Cornish flag flown with pride. With many thanks to Gill and her family for their generous donation of £300.00 to the earthquake appeal fund.
