CAN Projects Gorkha District - Lihi Gaun Health Post Health facilities and improved education for this remote area are now a priority for CAN. In 2004 a temporary Health Post was set up. The CAN Health Manager said she was full of admiration for the people, their general good humour, stoicism, enthusiasm, helpfulness and gratitude. The CAN nurses have established a good working routine and are learning the local language.
The temporary Health Centre has two rooms, the larger one is for consultations and storage and the smaller one provides a kitchen and nurses’ quarters. The building has basic furniture, a wood burning stove, solar lighting and water heating and has recently been provided with a solar powered fridge. This new storage facility, financed by Yelverton Rotary Club, will enable eight VDCs in Gorkha to benefit from an immunization programme. |
