CAN Projects Lower Solu Khumbu District - Ghunsa Ghunsa is a close knit Tamang Village of approximately a dozen houses many of the residents of which are inter-related and incidentally provide most of the porters for Doug Scott’s trekking company. The village is very poor and apart from agriculture the only other form of income is from the trekking industry. This is the village that gave birth to CAN as it’s known today. The original school was built in the late 50’s and constructed at a time when the politicians in Nepal did not want the poor villagers educated, the first teacher salaries were made in the form of goats or other livestock and produce from the land.
