Summer sunshine greeted the 200 visitors to Trish and Doug  Scott’s Garden Open Day at Stewart Hill Cottage in the North Lakes on Sunday 28th June.

Opened as part of the National Garden Scheme (NGS) the day was not just a celebration of  gardening and organic vegetable growing, but also a successful  fund raiser for charities supported by the NGS and also for Community Action Nepal.

The entrance fees of £605 has been split 50/50 with the NGS. CAN fundraising included the sale of Nepali goods, clothing and gifts which raised an impressive £766, sales of tasty tea and cakes which raised £277.50 and plant sales which raised £119.20. This give a fantastic grand total of £1767.70.

Thank you to Trish and Doug for sharing their lovely garden once again.

Opening the garden takes a considerable amount of work both before and on the day.

Thanks to everyone who helped: Tom Pearson (Head Gardener), Chris Wilson and Adam who with Trish and Doug prepared the garden and all those who helped with tea and cakes, Nepali goods sales, plant sales and parking: Kathy Eastwood, Carol Seccombe, Pat Pearson and friends, Ruth and Gordon Moore, Anne Manger, Rita and Geoff Price, Lynne and David Nightingale,  Euan and Arran Scott, Luke Kelly, Declan, Pete and Steve Wolley
