Community Action Nepal and our sister trekking company Community Action Treks (CAT) attended the Adventure Travel Show over the weekend of 17th/18th January at Olympia in London.
The show was the ideal place for anyone seeking an adventure, however big or small. Whatever your interest, be it sailing; cycling; trekking; wildlife safari’s; motorcycling; white water rafting or mountaineering this show had something to offer.
World Class rock climber, Base Jumper and CAN Trustee Leo Houlding and Everest mountaineer Stephen Venables gave two enthralling lectures on CAN’s behalf. Leo spoke of his climbing on Mount Asgard in Alaska and Stephen spoke about his expeditions to South Georgia. Thanks to them both for stepping in at the last moment to deputise for Doug, who was attending the funeral of his great climbing friend Jean Afanassief.
Thanks also to Rebecca Stephens who also kindly deputised for Doug – by joining the discussion panel ‘Mountain Men’ on Sunday morning for a fascinating insight into adventure with fellow panelists Mick Fowler and Leo Houlding.
The CAN/CAT stand was very busy across both days. It was great to chat with existing CAN supporters and CAT trekkers and also to meet people finding out about our work in Nepal and our treks, including the new archaeological themed treks.
Thanks to the show organiser Martin Anslow; his colleague Danielle Smith; CAN’s Denise Prior and CAN volunteers Lynne and David Nightingale for making our attendance possible.
