VENUE: Heriot – Watt University, Scottish Borders Campus, Galashiels TD1 3HF
LECTURE: ‘Big Walls and High Mountains” – An Evening with Doug Scott and Paul’Tut’ Braithwaite. Lecture kindly organised by the Royal Scottish Geographical Society.
Join two of the world’s finest mountaineers and high altitude rock climbers for an evening of gripping tales about new routes which pushed the limits of climbing to new heights.
Doug is famous for his first ascent of the South West face of Everest, but he is the first to admit that the work of Paul ‘Tut’ Braithwaite in finding a route through the rock band on the South West Face (which had defeated all previous expeditions) was key to his success on Everest. Tut rarely gives lectures so don’t miss this opportunity to see these two climbing legends and hear their globe trotting tales from Alaska, Africa, Everest and more.
Expect drama, tension and humour!
