‘Moving North’ : handing over Ghyamrang Health Post to the Nepali Government

It was a historic day for CAN on Monday 8th April 2013

On this day CAN handed over the management of Ghyamrang Health Post, in excellent health, to the Nepali Government. This was a day for celebration as CAN’s work here since 2001 has transformed health care in the area and in many ways our work at the Health Post is now done. CAN will of course continue a watching brief of the Health Post to ensure the Nepalese Government maintains our high standards and CAN will continue to work with Ghyamrang and Rohi Guan schools.

This ‘takeover’ by the Government will now free up CAN staff and financial resources to help other high mountain communities where there is scarce health provision. This will continue to meet CAN’s original aims of helping those living in the most remote areas. CAN hopes shortly to begin work in the North Ghorka area at Bihi, Prok, Lho and Sama and we  hope to achieve similar success.

Our congratulations and thanks to all the CAN staff who have helped the Health Post make a real difference.
