Dear friends and supporters of the Himalayan Trust UK,

You will know that every May the Himalayan Trust UK holds its Sir Edmund Hillary Memorial Lecture for people to meet and raise funds for the Trust. This year, however, is the 60th Anniversary of the first ascent of Everest by Hillary and Tenzing and the Memorial Lecture is being rolled into a bigger celebratory event organised by HTUK together with the Mount Everest Foundation.

Unbelievably tickets for this evening event have completely sold out. I do hope some of you will be joining us.

However, for those who aren’t or can’t, there is also an afternoon event on Wednesday 29th May at the RGS which is primarily aimed at young people but will be fun for all ages young and old. We’ve an array of speakers including Peter Hillary and Jamling Norgay (sons of Ed Hillary and Tenzing Norgay respectively), the brilliant young climber Leo Houlding, TV presenter Helen Skelton, Debra Searle and David Hempleman-Adams. And it’s only £10 a ticket!

So do come along if you can possibly make it, and tell all your young friends. And friends of friends, if any of you have kids at school? It’s half-term holiday and a good way to spend a Wednesday afternoon.

Tickets can be booked at Click on Info Nights & Events, then Forthcoming Shows & Events, then scroll down to Crowning Achievement, Lasting Legacy (Afternoon Session).

Hope very much to see you there.
