Dog Day Walk, Lowther Castle Penrith, 30 June 2013

Join Community Action Nepal, Kathmandu Animal Treatment Centre and Kathmandu Contemporary Arts Centre for a sponsored Dog Walk inspired by the Nepalese festival   ‘Kukur Tihar’  The Day of the Dog

For one day a year in Nepal all dogs, including strays, are paid respect. They are decorated with a tika spot and a garland of flowers and prayed to so they will guard against the ‘underworld’. Join us on a special dog walk at Lowther Castle, where our dogs will follow these ancient Nepali traditions.

We will be meeting at Lowther Castle near Penrith, for a morning walk –  which includes a Hindu blessing for your dog, a Buddhist prayer scarf for you and a Christian blessing in Lowther Church for both dogs and people. We are delighted that Lord Lang of Kersland will be leading off the walk with his lively Springer Spaniel!
