Stewart Hill Cottage Garden Open Day 2012 Garden Open Day raises over £3,013.7
Doug and Trish Scott invited one and all to join them in their country garden as part of the National Garden Scheme (NGS) on Sunday 1st July 2012. Over 300 people braved the wet and cold July weather to enjoy an afternoon exploring the fascinating garden of plant lover Trish and vegetable grower Doug.
This is the second time their garden has been opened to the public and was a great success. The day raised more than double that of the 2010 day for both NGS supported charities and Community Action Nepal.
Every year the NGS welcomes more than half a million visitors to private gardens and raises more than £2million for nursing, caring and gardening charities. The NGS was founded in 1927, raising money for charity and opening up beautiful gardens at a ‘shilling a head’. This years Garden Day in fact raised £1151.50 for the outstanding NGS charities at ‘£3.50 a head’!
